Description
The Scarlet Badis is a tiny and striking nano fish known for its brilliant red body marked with vertical blue bands. Males display the most vibrant colours, especially during territorial displays. Their small size and unique behaviour make them a fascinating species for nano and planted aquariums.
Native Location
Native to slow-moving streams and shallow waters in India, particularly in the Brahmaputra river basin.
Size
Grows up to about 2 cm (around 0.8 inch) in length.
Care Requirements
Scarlet Badis prefer densely planted aquariums with gentle water flow and plenty of hiding places. Ideal water temperature is 22–26°C. They often prefer live or frozen foods such as micro worms, daphnia, and baby brine shrimp.
Temperament
Generally peaceful but males can be territorial toward each other. Best kept with other small, calm fish in well-structured aquariums with lots of plant cover.
