Red Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi)

Description
Red Cherry Shrimp are one of the most popular freshwater aquarium shrimp, known for their bright red coloration and constant activity. They are excellent scavengers that help clean the aquarium by feeding on algae, biofilm, and leftover food.

Native Location
Originally native to freshwater streams and ponds in Taiwan, though most aquarium specimens are captive bred.

Size
Adult shrimp typically grow up to 2.5–3 cm (around 1 inch) in length.

Care Requirements
Red Cherry Shrimp thrive in well-established aquariums with plenty of plants, moss, and hiding spaces. Ideal water temperature ranges from 20–26°C. They feed on algae, shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and biofilm.

Temperament
Very peaceful and social. They do best in colonies and are compatible with small, non-aggressive fish. Avoid keeping them with large or predatory species.
