Description The Gardneri Killifish is a brightly coloured freshwater fish admired for its vibrant blue body covered with red spots and striking yellow highlights on the fins. Males are especially colourful and display beautiful finnage, making them a favourite among aquarium hobbyists.
Native Location Native to small streams, ponds, and forest pools in West Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Cameroon.
Size Adult fish typically grow up to 6–7 cm (around 2.5 inches) in length.
Care Requirements Gardneri Killifish prefer well-planted aquariums with gentle filtration and plenty of hiding spots. Ideal water temperature ranges between 22–26°C. They enjoy a varied diet including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods. A tight-fitting lid is recommended as they can be good jumpers.
Temperament Generally peaceful but males may show territorial behaviour toward each other. Suitable for community aquariums with other small to medium peaceful fish.
