Description
The Croaking Gourami is a small and fascinating labyrinth fish known for the unique croaking or clicking sounds it produces, especially during social interactions. It has a slender body with subtle stripes and a gentle shimmering appearance, making it a charming addition to planted aquariums.
Native Location
Native to slow-moving waters, rice paddies, and streams in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
Size
Grows up to about 6–7 cm (around 2.5 inches) in length.
Care Requirements
Croaking Gouramis prefer densely planted aquariums with calm water and plenty of hiding spots. Ideal water temperature is 24–28°C. They enjoy a varied diet of flakes, micro pellets, and live or frozen foods.
Temperament
Generally peaceful but can be slightly territorial among males. They do well in calm community aquariums with other small, non-aggressive fish.
